ALLIANCE has selected Patrick Brown as a candidate for South Down in next year s Assembly election.
In a post on Twitter last night Mr Brown, who sits as a councillor in Newry, Mourne and Down, said he was delighted to have been selected .
In 2018, he was given a six-month suspension from his council role due to a drink-driving conviction.
It came after he pleaded guilty after he was caught riding his motorbike under the influence of alcohol in March 2017.
He referred himself to the local government standards watchdog for investigation, but launched an unsuccessful appeal against the sanction imposed. ....

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) will certainly submit a motion of censure in this parliamentary session, depending on the discussions in the governing coalition, party s chairman Marcel Ciolacu said on Tuesday.
The PSD will certainly submit a motion of censure in this parliamentary session, depending on the announcement from Cotroceni, whether or not it assumes this coalition, not the Government of Romania, because we are still talking about the coalition, Ciolacu said at the Palace Parliament.
He added that PSD is waiting for the result of the discussions in the governing coalition.

Guwahati, April 18 (IANS) Apprehending poaching by the rival party, the main opposition Congress in Assam on Saturday assembled its candidates at a hotel here, party sources said, adding they would stay there till the results of the recently held Assembly election are declared on May 2.
